Results from State of FinOps 2025

The State of FinOps 2025 survey shows that while workload optimization and waste reduction are critical, success is impossible without good governance and policy around cloud deployment. In addition, it is important to be able to talk about the business value of cloud services (unit economics) and tell the big picture for all of the spending on the full scope of cloud (on-premises and off).

The FinOps team needs to have its big picture, the FinOps strategy, to create the big picture of business value shared with the organization outside of IT. This means developing a roadmap for the FinOps practice which includes data and systems, reporting, governance, and people and policy.

This roadmap is so critical to an organization's ability to scale its cloud analytics that we will be running a workshop on building a FinOps Roadmap at the ITFMA conference in St. Paul in May.
